It was the mating of Darling with other Freidheck Yorkshires that continued the Biewer breed. Examples of such breeding's in our history.

When explaining the history of the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier the BYTNC, feels that this comes in several sections of the Biewer itself. Starting with the development of the Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorkshire's origin was in England. The first registration in the stud book of the kennel club was made in 1886.
Born in 1865,Huddersfield Ben is known as the ancestor of all Yorkshire Terriers. He was the result of a precisely planned breeding program.
The breed's history is incomplete, but it is almost certain that the following dogs, which have become extinct, took part in the Yorkshire Terrier's development:  Waterside Terrier, Clydesdale and Paisley Terriers.
The Biewer (pronounced Bee-vair) Yorkshire a la Pom Pon originated in Hunsruck, Germany in 1984. Werner and Gertrude Biewer started the first Biewer Yorkshire through a gene mutation, also known as a recessive piebald gene, in their Yorkshire Terriers.  Although Mr. Werner Biewer passed away in 1997, his legacy lives on through this exquisite rare breed.
Biewer Yorkshires started with the Master parents of the blue & tan sire, "Darling of Friedheck", the dam, also a blue and tan in color, "Fru Fru of Friedheck". Both dogs were world youth winners in 1981 at Dortmund. Their marriage brought the first blue-white-gold Biewer Yorkshire, "Schneeflöckchen of Friedheck", born January 21st of 1984. (Pictured on left.) Other full siblings include Schneeflocke von Friedheck and Grand Pom Pon born August 27th, 1984
The first Biewers were registered as "wrong colored" Yorkshires and were deemed non-breeding status with the VDH/KFT. Mr. Biewer found the acceptance he was looking for in the Biewers with the ACH, Allgemeiner Club der Hundefreunde Deutschland e.V. in 1989 and the first standard was put in place for the Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom-Pon.

A la Pom-Pon was introduced to the Biewer name when Margot Eskens  was presented a platter that held a Biewer puppy as a gift from her husband. The french translation " a colorful ball of yarn" Their Biewer lived for 16 years.
Werner Biewer introduced the race in the first show ring in 1988

In 2003, Donna Hall, who has been one of the credited people bringing the first Biewers to America, introduced her two  Biewers in a show hosted by the International All Breed Canine Assoc.  In 2005, primarily through the efforts Homer -Snowprince von den Kobolden owned by Susan Williams, the Biewers entered the IABCA in earnest.
By 2006 more Biewers were starting to appear in shows including the National Kennel Club of America - Rarities.  In the 2007 year the Biewer breed was represented in most show venues allowed and were becoming very familiar to the Judges and the public.
The end of the 2007 show year climaxed an already exciting year with two (2) first in our Breed.  Homer-Snowprince von den Kobolden, owned by Susan Williams, won the prestigious IABCA "Gold Cup" and Edmond Schneeboy vom Weißen Blümchen (Ashton), owned by Jennifer Hurtt, was the first Biewer to claim the title "Grand Champion" with the North American Kennel Club,NAKC and completed his Canine Good Citizenship test in 2008.
The BYTNC has taken the breed further than just showing and in 2007 we entered the Biewer into the Liver Shunt Study with Cornell University and our dogs are involved in Genetic Testing and Pharmaceutical studies.  Many of our dogs are very involved in being good citizens by visiting people in Assisted Living, Community activities and being a good neighbor.  So the History of our Breed continues to grow and broaden to other areas.  We are proud that the BYTNC is a leader in these many areas and continue to work for the Betterment of the Breed.

The History of the BYTNC Biewers continues to be written in 2008 as our dogs represent both show venues open to us and have accumulated more titles and higher show wins than any other Club to date.  Magnolia's Dare to Dream Gallant Gabriel owned by Susan Williams, and Magnolia's Dare to Dream Harmonious Huey, owned by Stacey Miller, were the first two American bred Biewers to enter the IABCA Gold Cup ring.   The BYTNC members are the first to have all Biewers as winners in the IABCA champion class.
